Winnipeg Votes interview: Jenny Motkaluk

Interview overview (taped Sept. 29)

  • You were the first to start making campaign announcements. Why did you feel the need to get ahead of the pack and go first?
  • When candidates unveil a platform they often face criticism. You can react one of two ways: you can stick to your guns even though people say you’re wrong or you take what they say and make adjustments. What have you done? Are you right or are the critics right? When do you know if you should shift your stance?
  • Late buses are a regular occurrence in Winnipeg. Is the solution more drivers, more buses, traffic signals? Why is it so bad?
  • You previously ran for city council but lost in the election. If people didn’t feel comfortable having you represent their neighbourhood, why is the next option running for mayor?
